When We Are Closed

When we are closed, the services of GP Care Wakefield are used to care and support our patients. To access this service, telephone Warrengate Medical Centre after 6.30pm on 01924 371011 and you will be forwarded automatically to this service.

GP Care Wakefield is an extended out of hours service owned by all Wakefield GP practices to cover the entire population of the Wakefield district.

Opening times:

Monday to Friday 5pm-9.30pm

Saturday 9am-5pm

Sunday 9am-1pm

Bank Holidays 9am - 3pm

Telephones will be automatically diverted during operating hours. Outside of these times please telephone 111 or ring back during normal surgery hours if your need is not urgent.

The service is not available for routine matters such as repeat prescriptions.

Emergencies

Telephone 01924 371011 at all times.

Calls will be answered and dealt with as quickly as possible between 08.00 and 18.30 Monday - Friday.  When a Doctor is required in an emergency and the surgery is closed a recorded message will give you further details.

Your responsibility to us is:

  • To remain patient and keep calls as brief as possible.
  • To only contact the Out of hours service in an emergency.

NHS 111

If the situation is less critical and you are unsure of what to do call NHS 111, which is a 24 hour health advice line, staffed by nurses and health information advisors.  The telephone number for this service is 111.  You can also visit NHS Choices online at www.nhs.uk which offers a range of information from what to do if you’re feeling ill to opening times of your late night pharmacy.
