Who should I see? Meet our team..

At the surgery we have a fantastic multidisciplinary team with a wealth of clinical skills and knowledge. Your medical problem might not always need to be seen by a doctor, it can often be managed by another member of our highly trained team.

We have two Advanced Clinical Practitioners and two Paramedic Practitioners who are highly skilled and trained to deal with a variety of common illnesses and complaints. They have had extensive training to ensure that their knowlegde is up to date and they provide excellent clinical care.

We have an in house Pharmacist who is an expert on all things relating to your medications. They can answer queries you might have regarding your medication and complete our complex medication reviews. They can also monitor patients who are on certain medications like blood pressure tablets.

We have a First Contact Practitioner who is in the surgery once a week. They are an expert physiotherapist with many years of experience who can assess any musculoskeletal problem and provide a plan to improve your symptoms.

We have a team of mental health nurses who specialise in managing anxiety and depression. They have had extensive training and provide excellent holistic care for our patients with mental health problems.

Late For Your Appointment

Unfortunately we are experiencing an increasing number of patients who are either arriving late for their appointments or not attending at all.

If you arrive late for your appointment we can not guarantee you will still be seen.  Our staff will always ask the clinician if they are able to still see you but unfortunately if this impacts on other patients booked into the clinic or compromises clinical safety then you will be asked to rearrange your appointment.

We do understand that sometimes things happen which mean you can not make your appointment but in those circumstances please contact us to cancel your appointment so that this can be offered to another patient in need. We do review patients who fail to attend and if you have failed to attend on 2 occasions in the last 6 months then you may be asked to register elsewhere.

Thank you to those patients who do attend their appointments on time, it is much appreciated.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and they will arrange this for you.

Home Visits

Patients are requested, where possible, to telephone before 10:30am if a home visit is required that day.

We would request that, apart from the genuinely housebound, all other patients attend the surgery rather than request a home visit because of the extra time home visiting takes. On average four to five patients can be seen in surgery in the time it takes to do a single house call. In addition, the care that can be offered due to the lack of adequate lighting, examination facilities and equipment means that you may not receive as good a service as the doctor may be able to offer if you came to the surgery.

Please note that the doctor may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate. Ultimately it is the doctors right to decide whether or not a visit is appropriate for a particular set of circumstances.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities to us are:

  • To attend punctually for appointments
  • To cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend. Please note that if you fail to attend 3 appointments within a 12 month period, you may be removed from the Practice. If this is the case, you will be notified by letter.
  • Not to request an urgent appointment for routine matters
  • To ensure you give us your correct telephone number and inform us of any change of address so that we are able to contact you should it be necessary.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
