Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can use the NHS App to see details of your upcoming and past appointments. To view upcoming and past GP appointments:
- Go to the homepage or Your health.
- Select Upcoming and past appointments.
- Select GP surgery appointments.
This will show your upcoming GP appointments. To cancel an appointment, you can find the appointment here and select Cancel this appointment.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Did Not Attend Policy
Unfortunately we are experiencing an increasing number of patients who are either arriving late for their appointments or not attending at all.
If you arrive late for your appointment we can not guarantee you will still be seen. Our staff will always ask the clinician if they are able to still see you but unfortunately if this impacts on other patients booked into the clinic or compromises clinical safety then you will be asked to rearrange your appointment.
We do understand that sometimes things happen which mean you can not make your appointment but in those circumstances please contact us to cancel your appointment so that this can be offered to another patient in need. We do review patients who fail to attend regularly.
If you miss an appointment without letting us know, it will be recorded as a "Did Not Attend" (DNA).
- First missed appointment: We understand things can happen, so there will be no immediate action.
- Second missed appointment (within 6 months): You will receive a formal letter reminding you of the importance of attending or canceling appointments.
- Third missed appointment (within 6 months): Unfortunately, you may be removed from the practice list. We will notify you of this decision by letter.
If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible to avoid these steps.
Thank you to those patients who do attend their appointments on time, it is much appreciated.

You can log in to the NHS App to book and manage GP surgery appointments.
Home Visits
Patients are requested, where possible, to telephone before 10:30am if a home visit is required that day.
We would request that, apart from the genuinely housebound, all other patients attend the surgery. On average four to five patients can be seen in surgery in the time it takes to do a single house call.
Please note that the doctor may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate. It is the doctors right to decide whether or not a visit is appropriate for a particular set of circumstances.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities to us are:
- To attend punctually for appointments
- To cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend. Please note that if you fail to attend 3 appointments within a 6 month period, you may be removed from the Practice. If this is the case, you will be notified by letter.
- Not to request an urgent appointment for routine matters
- To ensure you give us your correct telephone number and inform us of any change of address so that we are able to contact you should it be necessary.
- If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor, please notify the receptionist and they will arrange this for you.
