Changes to NHS Prescription Availability

Want to know why some medications are being refused?  Please click here to find out why some medicines will no longer be available on an NHS prescription. Non prescribable Medication

Please note that as of 1st July 2021 we will no longer be able to accept prescription requests over the telephone.  Please use the online facility or drop in a paper request through the letterbox at the front gate.

Due to the continued increase in contact via the telephone between the staff here at Warrengate Medical Centre and our patients, it is vitally important that we have your upto date contact details on your records.

We will endeavour to ensure your contact details are correct at every opportunity but if they have changed, please advise us of this as soon as possible.

                           COVID VACCINATIONS

The NHS is now offering vaccinations to people who are most at risk from Covid-19. This follows the approval of both the Pfizer BioNTech and Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines as safe and effective, after extensive trials. The first vaccinations are being offered to people in the priority groups identified by the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), starting with people in care homes and those aged 80 and over. Groups of GP practices are working together to provide local vaccination services and will contact eligible patients when it is their turn.

When it is your turn, you will receive an invitation via the phone or through a letter either from your GP or the national booking system.

We know lots of people will be eager to get protected but please could we kindly ask you not to contact the practice for information about the vaccine or to ask for an appointment, as you will not be able to get one until you receive an invitation.

If you are invited for a vaccine, please act on your invite straight away and make sure you attend your appointments when you arrange them.

Please note that vaccinations are free of charge and only available through the NHS. Anyone who claims to be able to provide you with a vaccine for a fee is likely to be committing a crime and should be reported to the Police online or by calling 112. The NHS will never ask you to press a button on your keypad or send a text asking you to confirm you want the vaccine.

In the meantime, please continue to abide by all the social distancing and hand hygiene guidance, which will still save lives

Coronavirus Latest Updates

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CHANGES TO THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM - 13 MARCH 2020 - please click here the attached document which details changes to our systems

Covid Restriction Update:

Throughout the pandemic we have strived to make the Practice as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. We will continue to do so going forward.

From the 19th July 2021 nothing will change at the Practice - patients will need to still wear a mask, socially distance and use hand sanitiser in the surgery and staff will continue to wear PPE.  We do understand that it can be frustrating but we know that when people come to us they are sick and vulnerable (and some cannot receive the Covid vaccinations due to medical reasons) so we feel it would be wrong to not take these small precautions that can continue to protect people.

In terms of opening up, as many of you know, we have never been shut and in fact have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre-covid (face to face, by phone, by e consult and by video), not counting vaccinating 90% of the adult population twice in the last 6 months.

Warrengate Medical Centre has come so far in trying to minimise the impact of Covid and we are sure you will understand that we need to maintain Practice safety for ALL our patients and staff as we move forward within this next phase.

Online Consultations

You can now use online consultation as a way to communicate and seek advice from all practice staff, clinical and non-clinical.

This is a new and quick way to get the help you need from the staff that have been involved in your care.

Please use this method for all routine and administrative issues and NOT for same-day or urgent problems.
